Chacewater is the latest layout to be built by the 4mm section of the club. Based on the mainline station at Chacewater, it is depicted in the years between 1955 and the closure of the Perranporth/Newquay branch in 1963. The layout will be operated to a prottypical timetable with some Newquay services operating to and from Truro. The period modelled will allow for the operation of steam and early diesel hydraulics. The station will feature the mix of building styles with original GWR structures contrasting with the modern station building with its up swept canopy on the down platform.
The layout is built on a total of eight conventional baseboards, using 6mm ply with 3x1 softwood ends, and one open framed board to display Blackwater Viaduct. The trackwork is hand built to 'OO' finescale standards.
The area modelled will include Blackwater Viaduct just east of the station to the bridge spanning the three track section to the west. While the station environs are modelled exactly to scale, the viaduct and west end curves have been slightly altered to fit into the 20' x 12' space.
