Helston Railway Preservation Company Ltd.
The Helston Railway Preservation Company Limited is a 'social enterprise' company limited by guarantee, whose aim is to re-open a section of the former Helston Branch Line.
The company is run as a 'not for profit' company, and any excess of income over expenditure is re-invested into the railway. The Helston Railway has achieved a great deal
in the six and a half years since work commenced in April 2005. Starting with an overgrown track bed, volunteers have cleared and made ready about a mile of the formation,
and over 1/4 of a mile of track has been laid at the railway's base in Trevarno Gardens. Our sister organisation, the Helston Diesel Group, has acquired a two car Park Royal
Diesel Multiple Unit, and two Ruston & Hornsby shunters, all now based at Trevarno. One of the shunters has been restored to use. We have a shop and exhibition of railway
memorabilia at Trevarno in a converted mail van and the shop is open most days when Trevarno Gardens are open. The hard work carried out by our regular volunteers has been
fantastic, but there is always room for more. There is plenty of work to be done from track laying, building, fencing, and landscaping, to restoration work on the shunters and
DMU. If you feel that you cannot play an active part on the railway, but wish to support us in other ways, then donations of money and equipment are very much appreciated, however small.
